Community Involvement
Employer and Employees: united to make a difference
From the start, Teva Neuroscience has been an innovator and has demonstrated its drive to get involved “above and beyond”.
Our employees clearly embrace “the cause” and they show it! They have created Teva Neuroscience’s COIN (COmmunity INvolvement) team, a committee promoting the personal involvement of our associates in the neurology community through ongoing fundraising events and activities.
One of the major annual events is the Vélotour, a 150 km bike tour organized by the MS Society, in which our associates have been involved for a number of years. Every year (except in 2004), Teva Neuroscience has sponsored the largest Quebec region team (a new record was established in 2007, as Teva Neuroscience sponsored a team of 104 cyclists – raising over $60,000) – and our associates are extremely proud to continue to make a tangible contribution, year after year.
Teva Neuroscience associates also participate in the annual Parkinson Society Superwalk, for which the company has been a gold level sponsor since 2005.
Furthermore, we believe that we have a responsibility that goes beyond the patient population and into the communities where we do business and live as well. A demonstration of this belief is an initiative to directly involve our associates in sharing the company’s success (and their own) with others. This “Pay it Forward” initiative consisted in providing each associate with a $ amount which they were then asked to use to perform random acts of kindness towards strangers. This generated a wave of outreach activity which resulted in creative and remarkable efforts to help different people in ways both big and small.
TNC’s environmental mission: small steps toward major improvements
We strongly believe in the notion that many small individual actions can produce significant results and this belief has led us to form a “Green Team” comprised of representatives from all major functions within TNC. The Green Team’s mission is to lead by example and…
- Strive to employ environmental best practices and cultivate an ecologically-sound environment at TNC
- Encourage TNC employees to adopt and create ecologically-friendly initiatives both at home and at work
Still at an early phase of existence, the Green Team has already implemented “greener” habits in TNC’s work environment, such as the use of ecological supplies and products, the reduction of paper and energy consumption, the selection of business partners who also support such efforts. We want to pursue our initiatives on an ongoing basis and extend their impact outside of the office, by creating and maintaining awareness among our associates of our individual and collective moral obligation toward a healthier planet.
