Bonnie

Bonnie, 60, lives in a town of about 1,000 people 30 miles east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She is married with 2 grown children, a grandson, and a sweet dog.

She experienced Multiple Sclerosis (MS) symptoms (double vision, muscle weakness, trigeminal neuralgia, depression, and other symptoms) on and off for about 15 years before she was diagnosed. with a brain tumor.

Her August 1995 diagnosis was traumatic. “The neurologist walked in, slapped my chart on his desk, perched on the edge of the desk and said, ‘You have MS!’ before pausing to add ‘If you don’t have the money for medication there isn’t anything I can do for you,” and walked out. MS therapies were not covered by the provinces at that time. Bonnie’s strong faith and family helped her cope with the aftermath.

After seeing a different neurologist, Bonnie started on COPAXONE® in February 2001. Bonnie finds that heat doesn’t bother her nearly as much, and the majority of her symptoms have lessened or completely disappeared. She says she usually has a 1-week, minor relapse before Christmas, which can be a stressful time for anyone. Bonnie is now able to do a fast 3-mile walk without a problem. She says she has plenty of energy to joyfully play and romp with her grandson, volunteer with 2 organizations, and keep up a website.

“Life has new meaning for me. I am in control of my body and my MS, thanks to Teva Neuroscience and COPAXONE®.”
